Selfie Week Nigeria is a cultural platform exploring visual culture and the ways it shapes contemporary life.

 

We live in a world shaped by images. They influence how we see ourselves and others, how we express identity, experience places, build communities, preserve memory and participate in culture. From photography and film to fashion, design, digital media and immersive experiences, visual culture is part of how contemporary life is understood and shared.

 

Selfie Week creates space to look more closely at that world. Through festivals, exhibitions, installations, creative labs, public programmes, editorial projects and interdisciplinary collaborations, we develop experiences that explore ideas, stories and questions about contemporary African life. Our work does not belong to one discipline or format. A project might take the form of an exhibition, an installation, a workshop, a conversation, a gathering or an immersive experience. The subject determines the form.

 

Selfie Week works with artists, designers, photographers, filmmakers, writers, makers, technologists, cultural practitioners, brands and communities to develop work that invites people to look, participate, question and experience culture differently.

 

Founded in Nigeria, the platform is rooted in contemporary African life while remaining open to the wider conversations shaping visual culture today. At its core, Selfie Week is interested in how we see, what we make visible, what we remember and the stories we choose to tell.

 

We create the space to explore those questions together.
